Hello, my name is Brittany DeRupa. I'm from Trenton, Michigan and I am currently in my fifth year teaching. I taught 4th and 5th grade on a loop at a charter school in Romulus for 3 years. Last year I taught 3rd grade and this year I looped up to fourth grade in Bedford Public Schools. I am 27 years old. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University in April 2012. I majored in Elementary Mathematics and minored in Integrated Science. I decided to pursue a degree in Educational Technology after teaching in a district that currently has a 1:1 device program. After undergoing many trainings, I fell in love with Educational Technology.
When I'm not teaching, I have a few different hobbies. I teach kids' sport conditioning classes at a gym near my home. This is my second year in my house so, home improvement, DIY projects, and crafting are some of my favorite things to do. I also enjoy playing sports, reading, and being active with my Old English Sheepdog, Sadie.
I am looking forward to this class because I feel like I have so many different technology tools in my classroom when it comes to communicating, assigning homework, collaboration, and other areas. I am looking forward to being able to focus more on using technology with instruction.
Hi Brittany! You new blog looks fantastic. I look forward to reading more about instructional technology over the next couple months.
ReplyDeleteAs a middle and high school math teacher, it's cool to meet a person with a focus on elementary mathematics. I do looping at my middle school with advanced math students and I think it is such a cool experience to get to see the kids learn and grow over the two years. I am also at a school that is 1:1 and I am looking forward to the same thing you are with getting the most out of technology within the instruction.
